This year marks the 20th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage, which we are celebrating by linking the theme “Living Heritage†with Open Monument Day.
We can define intangible heritage â€" or living heritage â€" as the cultural customs, traditions and crafts that people have inherited from home, which they have made their own and which they in turn wish to pass on. This intangible heritage â€" unlike the stones of a monument â€" is constantly changing and changing with the times and from practitioner to practitioner.
